Privacy

The Effective Software website ("the website", "this website", "our website") is owned and managed by Field Computer Services Limited ("FCSLTD", "we", "us").

We are committed to protecting your privacy during your visits to our website and recognise our responsibility to hold your information securely and confidentially.  This Statement of Privacy applies to the website and governs data collection and usage. By using the website, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

We collect personally identifiable information, such as your e-mail address, name, home or work address or telephone number. We also collect anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your postal code, age, gender, preferences, interests and favorites.

There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by the website. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring Web site addresses. This information is used by us for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the website.

Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through public message boards, this information may be collected and used by others. Note: We do not read any of your private online communications.

We encourage you to review the privacy statements of web sites you choose to link to from this website so that you can understand how those web sites collect, use and share your information. We are not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on web sites outside of this website.

We collect and use your personal information to operate the web site and deliver the services you have requested. We also use your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from us and our affiliates. We may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered.

We do not sell, rent or lease our customer lists to third parties. We may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. In addition, we may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to us, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations, without your explicit consent.

We keep track of the web sites and pages our customers visit within the website, in order to determine which of our services are the most popular. This data is used to deliver customized content and advertising within the website to customers whose behaviour indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area.

We will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on FCSLTD or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of FCSLTD; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of our users, or the public.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer and are commonly used on the internet.

We use them to:

  • collect anonymous information that will help us understand visitors’ browsing habits on our website;
  • compile statistical reports on website activity, e.g. number of visitors and the pages they visit;
  • temporarily store any information which you may enter in tools, such as calculators or demonstrations on our website;
  • in some cases, remember information about you when you visit our site. We may need to do this to provide some of our services.

We do not use cookies to track your use of the internet after you leave our sites, nor do we store any personal information in them that others could read and understand.

We use two types of cookie:

Session cookies - these are temporary and are deleted as soon as you close your browser.

Persistent cookies - these are stored on your computer until they expire or you remove them.

Persistent cookies store your personal preferences such as your language preferences on multi-lingual sites to make subsequent visits easier. They also remember questions we have asked you previously, such as a request to complete an online survey. A persistent cookie will prevent you from being asked to complete the same survey every time you visit the website.

Third party cookies - We work with third parties who, on our behalf, research the use of our website and activities on it. In doing so they may place a cookie on your computer. However it would not contain any personal information that others could read and understand.

We also work with third parties to evaluate the effectiveness of our advertising and promotions on third party websites. Again, the cookie would not contain any personal information that others could read and understand.

Accepting or rejecting cookies

You can configure your internet browser to warn you each time a new cookie is about to be stored on your computer so that you may make a decision whether to accept or reject it.

Please refer to your internet browser’s help section for specific instructions.

Please note that some parts of our website may not function properly if you reject cookies.

Security Of Personal Information

We secure your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. We secure the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other web sites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

Changes to this Statement

We will occasionally update this Statement of Privacy to reflect company and customer feedback. We encourage you to periodically review this Statement to be informed of how we are protecting your information.
